Lake and River Cruises
Our latest cruise took place on 31 August 2024. On a sunny but windy Saturday a group of 14 lunch cruisers between the ages of 4 and 89 boarded the historic Wangi Queen for a voyage departing from Lemon Tree Passage. In spite of the strong wind, the captain managed to steer us very calmly to Karuah and back along historic Tahlee AA settlement. Only on the last 20 minutes back across to Lemon Tree Passage we had to face the strong Westerly sideways, the boat rocked and creaked quite a bit, wine glasses and crockery were smashed, Gin bottles flew through the cabin but nobody got seasick. A bit of excitement at the end of the cruise was appreciated by all?! We were almost had the boat to ourselves, only a handful of strangers on board.
Meetups & Picnics
On Sunday, 28th of May 2023, the Germania Club had another picnic at Blackalls Park. In spite of the coldest May morning in more than 20 years 38 members and friends attended plus Louis in his pram. The party started on the Northern end of the picnic shelter where most of us were gathering a few sun rays. Eventually, it was warm enough around midday that we could sit at the tables in the shelter and have lunch. All enjoyed the jovial atmosphere with Heinz, Frank and Patrick playing their instruments and enticing us to sing along. Others mingled and chatted with old and new friends. Some more energetic individuals had to work off lunchtime calories by playing a few serious rounds of boule.
Christmas Parties
Trips
On October 12, 2023, thirty-four members and friends attended the Oktoberfest at Wangi Workers Club. The entertainment, which included the outstanding accordion player Ross Mayo, was organised by Aunty Molly. All enjoyed the ambiance and get-together with old friends. Some were chosen to join the bell-ringers choir, which was a great success.
